Valentino Rossi wins at the Alice Grand Prix de France, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Colin Edwards. The victory makes him equal Angel Nieto´s record of 90 World Championship wins with a superb solo run. Rossi now leads the championship standings for the first time this season.
The Italian´s Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo once again showed great character by taking the second spot on the podium even after suffering from many injuries. He is now the highest rookie point scorer from an opening five races in history, overtaking his hero Max Biaggi. Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards finished third. Dani Pedrosa finished fourth even after starting first.
